BENJAMIN BOURGEAIS / Artist in Residence at La Vitrine*:
As part of the program Artist in residence initiated by the collective La Vitrine, the french artist Benjamin Bourgeais has been invited for a one month long residence. From February 7th until Mars 10th, the artist had the opportunity to fully involve La Vitrine's studio and gallery spaces in order to experiment and to develop his work. This time was concluded by a public presentation of his In situ productions on Mars 6th. The preview of his work is now available.
French born artist, Benjamin Bourgeais is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Marseille (France) in 2004. During his studies he developed a work of sculpture and started a work of minimal modifications on everyday objects. He's gradually expanding his practices to others media, mostly video and installation. His projects have been shown in several galleries and exhibitions throughout Europe, notably in Belgium, in France and in Austria. During this resident time, Benjamin Bourgeais attempted to define a pragmatical approach towards sculpture process. Involving a paintball gunshot as a painting tool or setting a radical superposition of 3 empty video blue screenings, Benjamin Bourgeais reaches for a carelessness gesture allowing a powerfull plastical event to happen.
